And yet again I am back with the new post and now it is mainly about quality changes, and adding some game feels to the project.

So far my main focus was to creating the core features for the game so we are able to add every (or almost every) content to the game we planned, but now it is time to add some life to the game.

As I mentioned before the dialogue system is not my work, but since then I had to expand it with additional features and now some visual enchant to it. First, I changed up the color and shape a little bit, because in the previous version (which was only placeholder), the text was a similar color to the background and it was hard to read, and the dialogue box itself was too large so I changed the size too.

Old version and new version:

Furthermore, I incorporated a typewriter feature into it, causing the text to be revealed letter by letter rather than simply appearing in the dialogue box

As you can see in the video I added a new feedback animation when the player shows the wrong card to the player, the screen fades into black, giving a text to the player (it is a placeholder at the moment) and after the table is back, the detective exhales out some cigarette smoke (When the player shows the wrong card, the detective gets stressed and smokes a cigarette, which represents the amount of life/try the player has left).

I tweaked the URP post-processing settings too, which are responsible for the visual aspect of the game, some contrast and saturation, a vignette filter, subtle chromatic aberration, and some depth of field to enchant the visual aspect a little bit. And some dust particles in the air because the detective's office is not that pristine.

And my team also requested a feature to change the environment lights for every diorama, because playing with lights gives additional help to understand if the situation is more serious or not (red lights for the first diorama, because the dead body is there and that is the murder scene).

So I created a manager and here is the tutorial on how to use it:

There are millions of ideas we wanted to add to the game, but time is our enemy as usual, from now on we have to concentrate on other elements such as sound and 2D UI assets, documentation, and most importantly finishing the narrative story.

Thank you for reading!
